Always Striving for a Better Way

Geordy JohnsonPeople tend to interpret Principled Entrepreneurship in different ways. I like to think of it as striving to find a “better way.” No matter what our role is, there is always a “better way” to improve a process, approach an opportunity or refine a strategy.

A single improvement may not feel like it makes an impact, but the cumulative impact of our 3,000+ team members, each challenging the status quo and incrementally finding a “better way,” makes a significant impact on our businesses overall.

Principled Entrepreneurship is a mouthful, but the pairing of these words is intentional. The Johnson Group companies have long been described as entrepreneurial, but it’s the way we approach entrepreneurship that sets us apart. How we get to the end result – by following our principles and doing what’s right – is more important than the result itself.

In a discussion with leaders, my father described Principled Entrepreneurship as “creating long-term value and operating within the Guiding Principles.” I am proud of how our team members conduct business in a principled manner within the framework of the Guiding Principles. In doing so, together we will create long-term value for our partners, businesses, families and communities.
